I have had several email about making tarts, this is how I do it.</span><br /><br /><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">First I take about 20 oz. of soy wax, use your scale to weigh the wax. I use a candy thermometer from Walmart. I like to use the para/soy wax from www.kentuckywax.com for my tarts. I used to use only soy wax, but they are so soft and crumble after a while. This para/soy wax has a mixture of parafin and soy. They still burn really clean. </span><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;"></span></div><span style="font-weight: bold;"><br /></span><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oLtes4hruqI/Tau_rx2pS2I/AAAAAAAADkA/balN4xZ4T8U/s1600/tarts%2Bmelting%2Bsolid%2Bwax.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 328px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oLtes4hruqI/Tau_rx2pS2I/AAAAAAAADkA/balN4xZ4T8U/s400/tarts%2Bmelting%2Bsolid%2Bwax.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5596777720775789410" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oLtes4hruqI/Tau_rx2pS2I/AAAAAAAADkA/balN4xZ4T8U/s1600/tarts%2Bmelting%2Bsolid%2Bwax.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Kv0k4wRqm2I/Tau_sE28e8I/AAAAAAAADkI/Z5IzJYHfXi4/s400/tarts%2Badding%2Bcolor.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5596777725877320642" border="0" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">I add my color in while it is melting. Some wait until after it is melted. I buy the dye blocks for my tarts. I don't like the liquid, too messy.</span> <span style="font-weight: bold;">Just shave off however much you need for the color.</span><br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Heat your wax until it reaches 175. Take off the heat, and let cool, until reaches about 145. Add 2 0zs. of fragrance in the mixture and stir well. Make you stir for a minute or two.</span><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-C2d8x-oreQs/Tau_d7zLooI/AAAAAAAADj4/pf2KvQlNCQs/s1600/tarts%2Bmelt%2Bwax.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-C2d8x-oreQs/Tau_d7zLooI/AAAAAAAADj4/pf2KvQlNCQs/s400/tarts%2Bmelt%2Bwax.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5596777482927448706" border="0" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">If you want to add spices and such to your tarts, have your cups ready to go. I like to add cinnamon chips, whole cloves and crushed rosehips to some of my tarts. I like to use the 2 0z. portion cups for my tarts, then you can just pop the lid on and make a label with the scent.</span> <span style="font-weight: bold;"> Those priority boxes come in handy for setting on the counter. I always seem to spill wax when pouring. so these really keep the mess down.</span><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yYxRgCgaAHI/Tau_dkETjLI/AAAAAAAADjw/vq2ZyEVLoFs/s1600/tarts%2Bspices%2Bin%2Bcups.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yYxRgCgaAHI/Tau_dkETjLI/AAAAAAAADjw/vq2ZyEVLoFs/s400/tarts%2Bspices%2Bin%2Bcups.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5596777476556819634" border="0" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">Pour hot wax into cups and let sit, until it starts to skin over, then you may want to add some spices on top of the hot wax. If you wait till it skins over, they won't sink to the bottom.</span> <span style="font-weight: bold;">It best to let the tarts cure for at least week, before burning.</span> I <span style="font-weight: bold;">hope this helps, it really is all about testing which scents are strongest for you. Alot of trial and error, but very addicting to make.</span><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SjzsK100Sw8/Tau_dTB5AhI/AAAAAAAADjo/4qX2hqttZN8/s1600/tarts%2Bpopour%2Bin%2Bcup.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SjzsK100Sw8/Tau_dTB5AhI/AAAAAAAADjo/4qX2hqttZN8/s400/tarts%2Bpopour%2Bin%2Bcup.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5596777471983288850" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ciedzb4ANig/Tau_dcyi6oI/AAAAAAAADjg/MN8xIyZUPDM/s1600/tarts%2Badd%2Bmore%2Bon%2Btop.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ciedzb4ANig/Tau_dcyi6oI/AAAAAAAADjg/MN8xIyZUPDM/s400/tarts%2Badd%2Bmore%2Bon%2Btop.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5596777474603281026" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-I1SYyi8Eigk/Tau_dAtJQ8I/AAAAAAAADjY/8BYO8jWwtvU/s1600/tarts%2Bgroup.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 204px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-I1SYyi8Eigk/Tau_dAtJQ8I/AAAAAAAADjY/8BYO8jWwtvU/s400/tarts%2Bgroup.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5596777467064435650" border="0" /></a>The Olde Country Cupboardhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02936783111343835185noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3682110697556259477.post-17668011029376598532011-01-21T20:09:00.000-08:002011-01-21T20:09:54.599-08:00Alot of request for this pattern in e-pattern form<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/TTpXTnmGmKI/AAAAAAAADY8/ngABog3GNoE/s1600/307.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" s5="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/TTpXTnmGmKI/AAAAAAAADY8/ngABog3GNoE/s400/307.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br />

I don't know where the time goes. Hoping to get some bunnies made for my daughters show. I am making them for my daughters show in Moultrie Georgia at the Calico arts and crafts show March 18-19. Being sick, sure limits what I can do. I did manage to get some of my lighted boxes done this past week. I have 3 big shows coming up and not enough inventory. the first set of boxes are from my #272 Winter Welcome light. These boxes always sell great at the shows.<br /><br /></div><br /><div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/TNDfpiQhLnI/AAAAAAAAC8E/PklioQ8lZCY/s1600/hat+santa+box.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5535169846702059122" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 198px" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/TNDfpiQhLnI/AAAAAAAAC8E/PklioQ8lZCY/s320/hat+santa+box.jpg" border="0" /></a> </div><br /><div><br />I have the following patterns now in epattern form.</div><br /><div>#272 Winter Welcome light box</div><br /><div>#284 Christmas Blessings</div><br /><div>#287 Sammy Snowman</div><br /><div>#280 Best Friends Welcome light</div><br /><div>#281 Prairie doll welcome light</div><br /><div>I have a e-pattern special on this blog only on these patterns only $4.00 each. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Well I finally got 2 more patterns done, I am trying to get most of the new items finished, because show season starts in less than 2 months. So I need to have everything done. Here is the first one I finished up. I call this one Winter Magic. He is a quick and easy project to do. So simple to make.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Next, I have a lot of request for Prairie dolls, and here is my latest version of one. I call this one Hannah's Christmas tree. She is about 24" long and is holding a prim trim. This one really makes up fast. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/TFtU4xqGZPI/AAAAAAAACqk/bx3Y7bJd-CU/s1600/Hannah+008.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" bx="true" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/TFtU4xqGZPI/AAAAAAAACqk/bx3Y7bJd-CU/s400/Hannah+008.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I have alot of ladies emailing asking how to stuff those fingers. Love the look, but I hate to stuff fingers. Here is how I do it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/TFtVy2Dxt8I/AAAAAAAACrk/OmvrdXdFAM8/s1600/hand.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" bx="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/TFtVy2Dxt8I/AAAAAAAACrk/OmvrdXdFAM8/s320/hand.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I sew my hand and I use a chopstick and push up the finger back into the hand part. See picture below</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Push each finger back into hand.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">When you have all pushed up into hand as shown,</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/TFtVQxOatKI/AAAAAAAACq8/2OdIY6yeiWE/s1600/hand+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" bx="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/TFtVQxOatKI/AAAAAAAACq8/2OdIY6yeiWE/s320/hand+4.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Push your chopstick up into one of the fingers in the middle and gently push the hand up into the arm. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I can't believe how long it has been since I posted on this blog. But finally got this little dollie finished, she has been sitting there naked for a few weeks. If you wish to purchase the e-pattern or the mailed version, just click on the link on the side button. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">In this post, I am going to show you past show booth pictures, compared to our booth today. As you will see, we have come a long way. A lot of hard work to get your booth to look the way you want. This is what our booth looks like today. My hubby built it, out of pressure treated lumber, so it is really heavy.</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I bought a cupboard to hold my room sprays and a shelf that comes apart. I use lots of wood crates, rusty buckets and basket sto hold anything on the floor. I now decorate the top of the booth with greenery. Last year I had an old braided rug I threw down. But be sure you tape it down, or you may have an injured customer.</div><div style="text-align: justify;">At the Christmas shows, I always have a basket with peppermint candy for anyone to pick up. Always have business cards to give out. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">A big turnoff for me, is to go into a booth, and immediately have the crafter start trying to sell their work to you or not have it priced. I like to look without having someone behind me talking to me the whole time, trying to get me to buy. I usually just walk out without buying when that happens. I am kind of a shy person, I usually just greet my customer and tell them, just ask if you need any help. This works for me, your work will sell itself.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S_s7KUS89xI/AAAAAAAACdI/Xj41Ax_OYL8/s1600/today+shows.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" gu="true" height="173" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S_s7KUS89xI/AAAAAAAACdI/Xj41Ax_OYL8/s400/today+shows.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I can't help but laugh, while going through some old photos. I found some of my older shows, now we are talking 20 years ago at least. I am posting some of the old photos, they are not the best photos, didn't have a decent camera back then.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S_s4s2NzrDI/AAAAAAAACcg/jCQ5pqsc8w0/s1600/cedar+key.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" gu="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S_s4s2NzrDI/AAAAAAAACcg/jCQ5pqsc8w0/s320/cedar+key.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<br />
This one was at an old shopping mall. I had just the one folded display and a small card table. Rule number one, never use sheets on a table, use old quilts or good table coverings. I noticed in some of my old pictures, the sheets were blowing could see boxes and sawhorse legs. Not professional at all.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S_s5PN8erqI/AAAAAAAACco/YvsAIX6zoX4/s1600/homassa.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" gu="true" height="216" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S_s5PN8erqI/AAAAAAAACco/YvsAIX6zoX4/s640/homassa.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">as you can see in this one, overlapping sheets, boxes and table legs showing. I remember the doing the crochet cotton ornaments that you starch and stiffen. They on the black display board. What you can't see on the table are crocheted and wood items. This booth says Bazaar.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S_s54J3aXrI/AAAAAAAACcw/yHoi7-5QWYA/s1600/morrocco+temple.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" gu="true" height="248" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S_s54J3aXrI/AAAAAAAACcw/yHoi7-5QWYA/s400/morrocco+temple.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">This was one of first big shows at the Morocco Temple shrine auditorium. This used to be a really good show. The first year we were in it, we caused a traffic jam and they had to move us to the side room the next year, which worked out great, we had more room, but as you can see here, we did mostly ornaments no extras in our booth for display.</div><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S_s6RCBQqvI/AAAAAAAACc4/QFghkctET3c/s1600/mall+show.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" gu="true" height="255" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S_s6RCBQqvI/AAAAAAAACc4/QFghkctET3c/s400/mall+show.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The one and only mall show we ever did. I will never willingly do a mall show again. They don't come to the mall to buy crafts. 4 long miserable days. I had a friend with me, who everytime I would sell something, she would take her elbow and elbow me. A little noticable, she got a little excited about selling, but kind of embarassing, especially when the customer notices.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S_s6ujXaGqI/AAAAAAAACdA/0_jMiPcAeaw/s1600/prime+osborne.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" gu="true" height="233" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S_s6ujXaGqI/AAAAAAAACdA/0_jMiPcAeaw/s400/prime+osborne.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">My booth at the Christmas made in the South Show in Jacksonville, back then we had a single booth. Looking at the picture, we sure didn't have much inventory. But we also had a crowded booth, and people saying we needed to get a double booth. Now I don't like to have anything but a double booth. </div><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">This year I am going to change my booth, my current one is just too heavy for my hubby to handle by himself anymore. My daughter doesn't get to go with me to all my shows now. So it just me and him. So I have to come up a new prim look, that is a lot easier to handle. I will share the new booth with you when I get it finished.</div>The Olde Country Cupboardhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02936783111343835185noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3682110697556259477.post-91646580167566297662010-05-19T21:13:00.000-07:002010-05-19T21:13:00.733-07:00The Winner of the giveaway is.....Hi,<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">I get a lot of emails asking how to get that uneven grungy look on stitches and wings. Here is how I do it. First off, let me warn you not to use a good iron. I bought an old iron from a garage sale that I used for this.</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I take a spray bottle, and mix a strong mixture of instant coffee and warm water, shake real good.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Take your piece, I don't even use a stained piece of muslin, just do my stitcheries and wings with unstained muslin.Spray mixture on front of piece and immediately iron with your hot iron. Just keep ironing until you get it dry. If you want it darker, just keep spraying and ironing. Repeat for back of wing if desired. This is a easy way to get a grungy look. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S-m9gSCqUhI/AAAAAAAACYQ/EerXgqs72WM/s1600/thursday+006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S-m9gSCqUhI/AAAAAAAACYQ/EerXgqs72WM/s400/thursday+006.jpg" tt="true" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S-m-F8p1V2I/AAAAAAAACYY/IA_4kb6kPKw/s1600/thursday+007.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S-m-F8p1V2I/AAAAAAAACYY/IA_4kb6kPKw/s400/thursday+007.jpg" tt="true" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S-m-MNU8y8I/AAAAAAAACYg/9NXMWMWbyU8/s1600/thursday+008.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S-m-MNU8y8I/AAAAAAAACYg/9NXMWMWbyU8/s320/thursday+008.jpg" tt="true" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">You notice, I used a thick piece of cardboard under my wing piece as I ironed. This way I can just throw it away and not get my ironing board cover all stained and dirty looking.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Now for moustache, take a clump and find the middle.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S9JhL9jexgI/AAAAAAAACUg/PIV9LkXjBIo/s1600/santa+11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S9JhL9jexgI/AAAAAAAACUg/PIV9LkXjBIo/s320/santa+11.jpg" tt="true" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And then lay it on the face, where you want the moustache to be and jab up and down with your needle until it is secure.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

But please practice first, so you don't ruin your dolls.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I have been using the brown shoe paste polish in can, that I purchase from Walmart, to help my get my dolls </div><div style="text-align: center;">a little grungier looking.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S5l_TaWDfcI/AAAAAAAACGQ/4mdPeMC_J9k/s1600-h/more+dolls+001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S5l_TaWDfcI/AAAAAAAACGQ/4mdPeMC_J9k/s320/more+dolls+001.jpg" vt="true" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>So here is how I get it look a little aged. I start with muslin that has been dyed with the liquid tan Ritt dye. Just follow the manufacturer's instructions on the bottle. I finish my doll and have her looking like this.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S5l_veNx-6I/AAAAAAAACGY/6uz3fc1AS-A/s1600-h/more+dolls+003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S5l_veNx-6I/AAAAAAAACGY/6uz3fc1AS-A/s320/more+dolls+003.jpg" vt="true" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">First off, I blush the cheeks with dark powdered blush.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S5l_-6gn1cI/AAAAAAAACGg/lJCVs7Zjukw/s1600-h/more+dolls+004.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S5l_-6gn1cI/AAAAAAAACGg/lJCVs7Zjukw/s320/more+dolls+004.jpg" vt="true" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">she now looks like this.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S5mAM_f-HcI/AAAAAAAACGo/JLDgpkXik9Q/s1600-h/more+dolls+006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S5mAM_f-HcI/AAAAAAAACGo/JLDgpkXik9Q/s320/more+dolls+006.jpg" vt="true" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is picture of the brown shoe paste polish I buy.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S5mAc46WiYI/AAAAAAAACGw/s8ic-Cd32z8/s1600-h/more+dolls+008.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S5mAc46WiYI/AAAAAAAACGw/s8ic-Cd32z8/s320/more+dolls+008.jpg" vt="true" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I like to use a wad of cotton or stuffing and wipe some paste onto the cotton. Be careful, not to get too much on the cotton, you may streak your doll's face and ruin it. So practice first.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I can't believe Easter is right around the corner, went shopping today and saw all the Easter candy and baskets, too bad I don't have a little one to buy for anymore. May just have to make my 19 year a basket after all. I guess maybe you never get too old.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">here is the link to download this free pattern. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">I have been busy making dolls, that are currently advertised in the Country Sampler this month. I had quite a few orders for them. It seems as soon as I get them made, they sell. I still have to make the Easter eggs for the blue Annies. The other Annie, is my #290 Annie's Memories doll, this is an older pattern, but always sells well when I advertise her.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">I finally got the new Annie's Snowman pattern done, it is ready in e-pattern form or mailed version, just look in the side bar for the pattern. This was a bigger pattern to put into e-pattern form, so if you have any problems with it, please let me know.I really like the way she turned out, I have a couple of new ideas for more Annies, in the works, of course, most of the are Christmas Annies. But I do want to make a patriotic Annie, it won't be long until summer.'</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">I have been having several orders lately, from one of my older patterns. I decided to make a set today and update it a little. I had forgotten how much I like these when I used to make them. I used to sell these wholesale through a rep and had to make so many of them, I got burnt out on them. But I think I might actually bring them back this year to my show. I am going to take some of the older patterns and put them in e-pattern form and offer them on the blog for a special price, until the next one comes out, so please keep checking back for the pattern special. It will only last time I get the next one ready. I am offering the sno-folks pattern for the special price of $4.00. Just look for the button on the side bar and it will be sent to within 24 hours after payment is made.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">I have added another free pattern to the share box below, scroll all the way down to the bottom to download the Easter Stitchery tags.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">While making the Sno-folks, it helped me to decide which technique to share next. The first time I did the box ends, I couldn't figure it out. Spent half a day trying, when all of a sudden it clicked. So here goes if you are having trouble figuring out how to do it: First off, trace your pattern onto doubled fabric, leaving an opening for turning.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S3i8bZfM0XI/AAAAAAAAB_o/EDWtJbviHS4/s1600-h/sew+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ct="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S3i8bZfM0XI/AAAAAAAAB_o/EDWtJbviHS4/s320/sew+1.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Trim you piece leaving about 1/8" around.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Take your piece and fold the bottom seam toward the side seams, it should look like this on the bottom. Notice how the sides are pulled out.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S3i8zY8mhQI/AAAAAAAACAA/HGQjdwphvPI/s1600-h/sew+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ct="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S3i8zY8mhQI/AAAAAAAACAA/HGQjdwphvPI/s320/sew+4.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">You can see how the corners are sticking out.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S3i874LpaRI/AAAAAAAACAI/TnaZKxm_IB4/s1600-h/sew+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ct="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S3i874LpaRI/AAAAAAAACAI/TnaZKxm_IB4/s320/sew+5.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Place on sewing machine and stitch across corner.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S3i9ZTUY5uI/AAAAAAAACAg/XP17crWJYiw/s1600-h/sew+8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ct="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S3i9ZTUY5uI/AAAAAAAACAg/XP17crWJYiw/s320/sew+8.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">Continue on to other side of body and you will now have both corners stitched across.</div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is how you piece will look before you turn it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I have several people call me and ask how to the do the pinch stitch on the nose. I find it hard to describe how to do some of the techniques over the phone. So hoping this will help.<br />
<br />
<br />

But knot your needle and insert needle in back of head, coming out where you want to start your stitch.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Take your hand and kind of pinch it together and insert your needle under the mark and picking up a little stuffing come out on other side of line.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">I am sorry it has taken so long to update. I am having trouble getting ahold of the winner of the bagholder, If any one knows Country Pickins please let me know how to get in touch with her. Or if you are reading this please email me at <a href="mailto:info@youarespecialpatterns.com">info@youarespecialpatterns.com</a>. I don't think my emails have been getting through. Been working on some new stuff. I just finished a new Annie pattern, I am going to call her Annie's Snowman. She is a big girl. She is a little on the bright side, I used lots of reds on her. I have aloy\t of people ask wher I buy my yarn for my doll's hair. I buy it at Joann's. They have skeins of yarn that are perfect for raggedy's.<br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S1_biZe8_SI/AAAAAAAAB48/7Kl4JqS8lPM/s1600-h/Annies+snowman+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" mt="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S1_biZe8_SI/AAAAAAAAB48/7Kl4JqS8lPM/s640/Annies+snowman+2.jpg" width="370" /></a><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I have been asked how I stuff my doll's, I tried taking some pics, hopefully these will explain how I do it. I had to take myself stuffing, so hope they make sense.<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S1_b8rJBv8I/AAAAAAAAB5E/amHa45Tow6c/s1600-h/stuff+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mt="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S1_b8rJBv8I/AAAAAAAAB5E/amHa45Tow6c/s320/stuff+1.jpg" /></a><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I have my doll body sewn up, just have to turn it and then stuff it.<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S1_cN_7RVBI/AAAAAAAAB5M/FRgrGu67at4/s1600-h/stuff+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mt="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S1_cN_7RVBI/AAAAAAAAB5M/FRgrGu67at4/s320/stuff+2.jpg" /></a><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">I use a chop stick, I grab some stuffing and kind of wrap it around the end of the chopstick and then stuff down into the leg or arm. Just keep adding a little at time until you get stuff firmly. I kind of flatten the stuffing down as I go. I just mash down on the outside and try to keep flat and from bunching out.<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S1_ctV-iHqI/AAAAAAAAB5U/2vzVyS2_aXo/s1600-h/stuff+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mt="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S1_ctV-iHqI/AAAAAAAAB5U/2vzVyS2_aXo/s320/stuff+3.jpg" /></a><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S1_c6xfB0AI/AAAAAAAAB5c/e3gviv6p6EA/s1600-h/stuff+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mt="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S1_c6xfB0AI/AAAAAAAAB5c/e3gviv6p6EA/s320/stuff+4.jpg" /></a><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Next I stuff the body and head, I stuff with little bunches of stuffing. I use the stuffing in the green and white box at Walmart, not the polyfil, that is too soft, I can't stuff tight enough with it. Just keep pressing the doll body flat as you go with your hands, to keep it flat.<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S1_dXRSQ1lI/AAAAAAAAB5k/sTpB2IVGS5s/s1600-h/stuff+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mt="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S1_dXRSQ1lI/AAAAAAAAB5k/sTpB2IVGS5s/s320/stuff+5.jpg" /></a><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Do you ever get a wobbly neck, this is one trick I use to help keep the head from flopping too much,<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">take a stitch under the neck line, going from back to front with heavy thread.<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S1_dj0O2LTI/AAAAAAAAB5s/60ba_ooBgLE/s1600-h/stuff+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mt="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S1_dj0O2LTI/AAAAAAAAB5s/60ba_ooBgLE/s320/stuff+6.jpg" /></a><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S1_d6jcVSZI/AAAAAAAAB50/Z31EqayYuYU/s1600-h/stuff+7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mt="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S1_d6jcVSZI/AAAAAAAAB50/Z31EqayYuYU/s320/stuff+7.jpg" /></a><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S1_eF6alACI/AAAAAAAAB58/Ew9Tv0GzhbM/s1600-h/stuff+8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mt="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S1_eF6alACI/AAAAAAAAB58/Ew9Tv0GzhbM/s320/stuff+8.jpg" /></a><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">After you have stitch back and forth a couple of times, knot off your thread, you will have an indentation there. Just continue to stuff around the body and stitch.<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S1_eah5l8QI/AAAAAAAAB6E/CrFhXCtsrRA/s1600-h/stuff+9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mt="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S1_eah5l8QI/AAAAAAAAB6E/CrFhXCtsrRA/s320/stuff+9.jpg" /></a><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S1_eoT_f1jI/AAAAAAAAB6M/U8eRnbvzptU/s1600-h/stuff+10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mt="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0VTvmWoyBKc/S1_eoT_f1jI/AAAAAAAAB6M/U8eRnbvzptU/s320/stuff+10.jpg" /></a><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">I like to fold the bottom seam up and stitch my doll's legs into the opening and whipstitch closed. I don't use a machine stitch across. Just have to be careful to keep the legs even at the bottom. I hope this helps a little, I have stuffed a ton of dolls over the years and I have noticed no one stuffs the same, the same doll can look so different depending on who stuffs it.<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Tomorrow I will show you how to pinch stitch and the finished doll face.<br />
